About

I am a PhD Candidate in Educational Leadership and Policy (Comparative and International Education) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. My PhD research focusses on how district education offices can support teaching and learning in schools in Ghana, and more broadly on education leadership, management and policy implementation, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. I also hold a MPA – International Development from University of York, UK, an MA in Political Science from McGill University and a BA in Political Science (Hons) and French from the University of British Columbia. My research has been funded by the SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship, the University of Oxford, and Education Commission. I am a reviewer for leading educational development journals, including the International Journal of Education Development.

Since 2024, I have been a Research Consultant with the Science of Teaching Programme led by RTI International, funded by the Gates Foundation. I conduct mixed-methods research studies to understand district education office leadership for foundational learning in Rwanda, and most recently, in Senegal. I was a member of the Ghana and global research teams of the DeliverEd (delivering education reforms) Research Initiaitve (2019-2023). The Ghana research was a collaboration with the Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (IEPA) at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, the Blavatnik School at the University of Oxford, and OISE at the University of Toronto. I also rgularly consult with international development agencies (e.g., UNICEF) on out-of-school children issues, education data and indicators and education policy to improve access and quality of basic education.

Prior to my PhD studies, I was an Education Specialist in UNICEF’s Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (Geneva, Switzerland) and at the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (Montreal, Canada).

I am currently based in beautiful Vancouver, Canada.
